Experience gas central heating for a cosy dwelling house

Gas central heating is the best way of getting ready for when winter approaches with its longer nights and freezing temperatures. Heating your home will make it a relaxing and cosy place to be, so therefore you need a reliable and economical gas central heating system.

A gas central heating system is basically a central heating boiler with pipes carrying the heat to heating radiators placed in all the rooms; these systems can be of the pumped or vented type.

Popularly used are pumped systems which comprise of a main feed and expansion water tank that heats up and transmits the heat through pipework to secondary heaters (heating radiators). The expansion tank will always allow for any water expansion that may occur as it gets hot.

The vented system on the other hand is a sealed system where there is no core heating. It’s basically closed, so there is really no need for any water tanks and the space they require. The main assets of this system is that problems such as leaking and airlocks are minimised and, especially for those who live in colder climates, pipes will not freeze.

You may ask why you need central heating and what are its benefits?.

The major advantage of central heating is that the home or work space can be quickly, uniformly and efficiently heated without compromising the quality of air in your surroundings. Electric fires, gas and storage heaters were the types used in the old days. These primitive heaters invariably resulted in a harsh, sticky and smelly atmosphere.

Central heating eliminated all of these issues, but a gas central heating system should also be regularly serviced to keep them at there peak. Many home owners turn them on immediately at the arrival of cold conditions after leaving them off during the summer season, which is not the proper thing to do. Instead it is advocated that you gradually bring them into use during autumn so that if you spot any problem you can quickly contact an engineer.

It should also be noted that some central heating systems allow air or dirt into them, so annual draining is required. For draining the system just open the valve and keep a bucket below it for water collection, ensure that water doesn’t enter the system when it is being drained.
