The various types of gas Central Heating gas fired boilers available
Different types of Gas Central Heating Systems are available in the market. Most of them consist of a set of heating radiators, a heating boiler and copper pipework.
People in the UK, Europe and some parts of Russia, hardly need an air conditioner because of the low average temperature. Today a good Central Heating system has become a major part of every household, so much so that it is being installed in all the new houses that are being constructed.
Central Heating is vital, especially as wintertime is fast approaching. You can make your home more comfortable, pleasing and relaxing by heating it with Central Heating. This security in wintertime is possible only if your Gas Central Heating System is foolproof, well maintained and functioning efficiently. It should be durable, easy to use and completely safe.
Two kinds of Gas Central Heating Systems are mainly in use; pumped/vented and sealed systems.
Pumped or vented Central Heating systems are most popularly used. A pumped/vented Gas Central Heating System includes components known as a feed and expansion tank to allow for the expansion of water as it is heated in the heating radiators. The hot water storage tank provides your home with warm water and brings heat to the heating radiators. The expansion tank has adequate space to accommodate any water expansion that occurs due to heat. The tank is positioned at the point of maximum height, usually in the attic area to create water pressure. It not only heats the house, but also supplies hot water.
A lot of older homes have pumped/vented Gas Central Heating systems.
A heating boiler system that is somewhat newer and more modern and that most people are choosing nowadays over the pumped/vented Central Heating system is the sealed system. No water tanks are needed for a Sealed system as it is a completely closed setup saving space. This unvented system eliminates water tanks and attic plumbing, thus giving a number of advantages.
- No risk of freezing pipes in the loft.
- attic space is freed up and pipe maintenance is reduced.
- Because the system is not vented, there is less chance of water leaking out.
- Unlike pumped/vented systems, air is not drawn through open vents so the possibility of air locks, corrosion and sludge is much lower.
- Can be flushed out under pressure if needed by the mains water supply.
All the required controls and safety devices are incorporated into the sealed Gas Central Heating systems. The water for the system is provided directly from the main water pipe of the house. The mains water goes straight to the sealed system.
A pressure vessel containing compressed gas, which is kept separate from the sealed system by a diaphragm, is used to allow any pressure variations. If the pressure becomes too high in a sealed Central Heating System; a safety valve will allow water to escape from the system and if the pressure drops too low a valve will open to refill the system with water.
Central Heating systems are a great way to keep your home warm, also they don’t cost you as much as the other systems would. And they provide you with much more control and choice when it comes to your heating compared to any other systems.
